Application for a Statutory Inspection to allocate a Statutory Category
Article 13 (2)(b) of the Tourism (Northern Ireland) Order 1992
This application requests a statutory inspection of the establishment to be conducted so
that it may be allocated to the statutory category specified in this application.
All premises offering tourist accommodation in Northern Ireland must be certified under the
Tourism (Northern Ireland) Order 1992. Tourism Northern Ireland (Tourism NI) is required
by this legislation to inspect tourist accommodation once a year (statutory inspection) to
ensure properties comply with the minimum criteria set. You can view the minimum criteria for

How long will the process take?
Please note that Tacit Consent will not apply for reasons of public safety, however, on receipt
of your application and fee, and any additional necessary paperwork, Tourism NI aims to complete
inspections of new tourist accommodation within 8 weeks. Please see
